Rudder – Day 1

And …  we have sawdust.  I got the sassafras for the rudder blank ripped up today.  I still need a bit of practice, and I think a second set of hands would be invaluable.  The bad news is that some of the strips are slightly bowed or nicked by the saw.  The good news is that I will be able to put the trouble areas where they will be either cut or planed off in the process of turning a blank into a rudder.  The next task will be gluing up the blank, then cutting the outline, then actually shaping the foil.  Then I will have a rudder blade.  This project will take a while.

Patrick approves of the current progress
